Hello everybody. It’s me, Andrew Tessler, your Sachem Daily host, here to impart everything printable about what’s going on around town these days. Includes news about:

  • LI home heating costs are estimated to rise by 29% this winter.
  • See five new homes for sale in the Town of Brookhaven.
  • Check out the worst Thanksgiving travel times on the Long Island Expressway.

But first, today’s weather:

Windy; morning rain High: 58 low: 34.

Here are today’s top three stories in Sachem:

  1. Check out five new homes for sale in the Town of Brookhaven. All homes are located in the town of Brookhaven and vary in price and size. Interest rates are now the highest they’ve been in twenty years, which means the seller’s market has disappeared on Long Island and buying opportunities are excellent. See the houses in the link. (Sachem Patch)
  2. Check out the worst Thanksgiving travel times on the Long Island Expressway. Did you know that the LIE has some of the worst traffic in the entire country on Thanksgiving? Holiday travel will be equal to pre-pandemic levels this year. “Travel is almost back to normal and people are looking forward to seeing family and friends, which makes for a great Thanksgiving holiday,” said Robert Sinclair, Jr. from AAA Northeast. Avoid traveling between 16:00 and 20:00 Wednesday to Sunday and see other tips by clicking the link. (patch)
  3. LI home heating costs are estimated to rise by 29% this winter. National Grid says the cost increase is due to higher wholesale gas costs. New York State offers financial assistance through the Home Heating Assistance Program. (patch)
