Hyderabad: In a major victory for the poor students of Medchal Malkajgiri district, the District Education Officer (DEO) has ordered all government schools to allow admission to children without Aadhar cards.

“I was told that some principals are refusing admission because they do not have Aadhar. As per rules, we have to provide admission without Aadhar. Therefore, all Mandal Education Officers (MEOS) and Headmasters of all primary, upper primary and secondary schools are hereby re-informed to conduct admissions without Aadhar,” the order read.

The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009 states: “No child shall be denied admission to school for lack of proof of age.”
