Mangaluru Autorickshaw Blast: Accused admitted to hospital; family comes to visit him |

On Monday, November 21, Sharik was admitted to Father Muller Hospital in Mangaluru.

A terrorist act

Meanwhile, the blast in a moving coach in Mangaluru was a “terrorist act”, Karnataka Director General of Police Praveen Sood said on Sunday.

According to PTI sources, a stove equipped with a detonator, wires and batteries was used to trigger the blast.

After the explosion, the interior of the rickshaw was badly damaged.

They also suspected that it could be a failed suicide bombing attempt to cause maximum damage.

The blast in Mangaluru is similar to the car blast in Coimbatore, they said.

City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar urged people not to panic and avoid spreading rumors on social media.

Karnataka CM says the suspect was linked to terrorism

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday said the suspect who allegedly carried out the Mangaluru bomb blast had links to terrorism as he had traveled to various places, including Coimbatore in neighboring Tamil Nadu.

According to preliminary information, it was an LED-related instrument, the chief minister told reporters.

“When the antecedents of the suspect were investigated, it became very evident that the name mentioned on the Aadhaar card found at the spot was different from the name of the person carrying it. The suspect had a duplicate Aadhaar card. She had address Hubballi ,” said Bommai.

The chief minister said more details became clear after the police traced the suspect’s original address and the location where he was staying.

“Prima facie, it is an act of terrorism. The places where he has traveled like Coimbatore or any other place clearly shows his link with terrorism,” Bommai said.

He added that officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) have also joined the state police in investigating the matter. A four-member NIA team has reached the spot and is coordinating with the police.
