Antonio Conte has made a worrying admission about Harry Kane ahead of the World Cup | Tech US News

Antonio Conte has admitted Harry Kane is battling fatigue ahead of the World Cup.

Kane was not given a break by his coach this season, as he started 21 games in a row and played a total of 1,847 minutes.

Many were surprised when Conte started the England captain in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie at Nottingham Forest, with the Italian admitting after the game that the 29-year-old was struggling with fatigue and was tired.

“It was a problem of fatigue. It’s just fatigue, but it’s normal because Harry played every game,” Conte said.

“Yesterday we had a soft practice and at one point he stopped to get his energy back.”

With the World Cup just over a week away, it would be reasonable to assume that Kane would prefer not to play in the game against Nottingham Forest.

However, Conte says the striker never made such a request and praised him for it.

“Other players might say to me, ‘I’m tired and I don’t want to play and help the team,'” he added.

“Others could be selfish and think with their own head because they have to play the World Cup in a week. Instead, Harry Kane has turned out to be a really good man.

“But I repeat, what is happening during this period is normal.”

Kane is set to play a key role for England in Qatar and will become their all-time top scorer, just two goals ahead of Wayne Rooney.
