Shakhtar Donetsk winger and reported Arsenal target Mykhaylo Mudryk has admitted he often checks in on the Gunners, who he thinks highly of following their impressive start to the Premier League campaign. The north Londoners currently lead by five points and will look to strengthen their title bid with a productive January transfer window at the turn of the year.

Mudryk is one of several high-profile names linked with Arsenal in the past few weeks, although a handful of other clubs are also said to be monitoring the 21-year-old’s progress at Shakhtar. It seems as if he might prefer to join Mikel Arteta’s side if given the chance, though after revealing in an interview with Oleksandr Zinchenko’s wife Vlada that he regularly checks in on how Arsenal are doing.

“Yes,” Mudryk said when asked if he was accompanying the gunners. “I check them in ‘myscore’ and I know when they play that I can check them, I also watch them. [Arsenal are] overall a very dynamic side, not only in possession but also in scoring goals.”

The Shakhtar forward’s response suggests he is a fan of Arteta’s style of play, which could mean Arsenal win the race for his signature when bidding starts at the turn of the year. Any move for Mudryk would almost certainly take a big hit to their transfer budget, although Shakhtar director Carlo Nicolini insisted last month that the player would only be sold if a mega-money offer was submitted.

“Along with Kylian Mbappe, Rafael Lea and Vinicius Junior, Mudryk is the strongest player in his role,” said Nicolini Calciomercato before revealing Arsenal and Manchester City’s interest in the winger.

“Is £35m enough to buy him? We don’t talk about those numbers, we don’t talk about £45m, we don’t call the chairman to make an offer, we value Mudryk more than Antony from United [at] 85 million pounds. Arsenal and Man City? These are two teams that were interested in the player.”

DON’T MISS IT

It remains to be seen whether the Gunners will manage to agree a successful January move for Mudryk, who has contributed eight goals and as many assists in all competitions so far this season. He seems destined to move on to bigger and better things at some point in the near future, having previously hinted at a possible move to Arsenal earlier this year when he claimed he would like to join the Premier League leaders , if you might call them.

“We’ll see in the winter,” said Mudryk CBS Sports when asked about Arsenal’s desire to poach him. “There has been a lot of transfer talk and speculation about what clubs want me for.

“I think every player dreams of the Premier League. It’s hard to say, but Arsenal are a very good team, a very good coach. I like the way they play. From my side, I can’t say no, but the transfer is not exactly my decision. “
