Ayush adoption case: Former Ayurveda director among 12 arrested in Uttar Pradesh | Tech US News

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) on Thursday arrested 12 people in connection with alleged irregularities related to Ayush college admissions 2021.

Among those arrested were former Director (Ayurveda) Professor SN Singh and Kuldeep Singh, a representative of the agency that provided consultancy for Ayush colleges in 2021.

“Twelve people, including former Ayurveda director SN Singh and Kuldeep, have been arrested,” a senior STF official said.

The counseling was held in 2021 to select candidates for 7338 seats in Homeopathy, Ayurveda and Unani Universities. A total of 6,797 seats were allotted, including seats in government and private colleges under AYUSH. A total of 891 assignments were identified as doubtful. Among these 891 names, there are nine of them who have never taken the NEET exam at all, but have allotted themselves seats in colleges.

The Directorate of Ayurveda suspended all 891 students of the 2021 batch and the Gorakhpur Ayush University barred them from appearing in the exam scheduled for June next year.

Kuldeep represented the agency which conducted the counseling with the help of NEET-2021 result. The STF has been looking for him since the case was handed over to it following an FIR filed on November 4.

Professor SN Singh lodged an FIR at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow.

So far, principals of Ayush colleges where the suspended students were admitted have been questioned.

Several students also claimed that their admission was not fraudulent and asked to be allowed to continue their classes and take their exams.
