Cruise planners break records in several travel segments in 2022 | Tech US News


Cruises Planners’ best year yet was 2019. In 2022, as travel rebounded following the shutdowns and COVID-19 protocols, it fell short of its 2019 performance by just two points.

Overall, in 2022 Cruise Planners achieved 98 percent of its 2019 performance, which is quite impressive for a year of recovery and resurgence for the travel industry.

Some segments went particularly well. Luxury travel is up 28 percent in 2022 from 2019, the best year ever for cruise planners, said Scott Koepf, senior vice president of strategic development. “This includes a record pace in World Cruises: Cruise Planners advisors sold $10 million in global travel, an 89 percent increase over 2019.”

River cruise sales are up 21 percent in 2022 over 2019, another banner performance.

Land travel is up 18 percent in 2022 from 2019. “Even though our name is Cruise Planners, we sell more sandals than anyone else in the world,” Koepf said.

As for global cruising, it reached 94 percent of booked business in 2019 due to issues including a slow start to the year in sales, burdensome COVID protocols and the fact that 30 percent of the country was unvaccinated.

“We’re very, very pleased with it,” Koepf said. “We think that’s a pretty extraordinary number.”

Cruise Planners provided the business update to the media as it prepared to kick off its annual convention in Miami at the Intercontinental Hotel November 11-14, followed by a cruise aboard the new Celebrity Beyond November 14-17.

During the update, Cruise Planners founder and CEO Michelle Fee noted that Cruise Planners broke the record for the largest commission check ever written, no less than three times in 2022.

“On July 15, I signed the largest commission check in the history of Cruise Planners, then we broke the record on August 1, and then we broke the record again on September 1,” Fee said. “We broke the record three times, which was amazing.”

And 2023 also looks very promising with deposited reserves. “We’re currently 26 percent ahead of where we were headed in 2020 before the pandemic,” Fee said. “We are praying that there will be no more visits from the Wicked Witch [as she dubbed COVID] and this should be an amazing year.”

Head of sales Theresa Scalzitti agreed: “Next year, 2023, will definitely be a record year, knock on wood.”

In the update, Cruise Planners also outlined new features and programs available to its agents in the new year. Here is a brief description of some of them.

LivePlanner is a live vacation planning and presentation tool that allows advisors to have a real-time consultation session with their clients. Unlike Zoom or other screen sharing tools, LivePlanner gives the advisor full control to send content to their clients’ screens to show them only what they want to show them. For example, if they’re talking about a cruise, the advisor can provide them with itinerary details, dining options, entertainment, videos, pricing, and more with the click of a button. LivePlanner also maintains a summary of the session in case the client wants to review the discussed details on demand or share with loved ones.

Summary of the trip 2.0 is a major improvement to the current itinerary creation tool that has the ability to add images and day-by-day itinerary details and is fully integrated into CP Maxx.

By combining LivePlanner and Trip Summary, advisors can create a day-by-day sample itinerary for their clients, then use LivePlanner to review the itinerary with them and easily provide content and details to help the client visualize the proposed experience.

Convenience follower is a tool within CP Maxx that will allow advisors to keep track of all the perks, amenities and gifts their customers receive for booking with them. It will allow advisors to easily register onboard credits, beverage packages, prepaid gratuities, tour credits and more. Advisors can also run reports to see which services still need to be applied to their customers’ next vacation.

O Find a hotel tool with Navitrip technology gives advisors access to more than 100,000 hotels and resorts worldwide. Advisors will be able to adjust their commission and savings for their clients using a toggle bar. You will also have an easy to use interface to easily view the customer’s savings percentage, their commission amount, hotel details and many filtering capabilities, all within CP Maxx.
