The Academic Council of Delhi University on Wednesday approved a new procedure for admitting students to undergraduate programs based on the results of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). In accordance with the procedure, a central portal for admission to all faculties will be created, and admission will take place in accordance with the rules specified in the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), the press agency reports. PTI report.
Interestingly, a member of the council said that “the academic council has approved the guidelines formulated by the standing committee for admission of students to undergraduate programs.” As per the guidelines issued by University of Delhi, admission through CSAS will be done in three phases namely submission of CSAS application form 2022, selection of programs and preference filling and seat allotment and admission. Seats will be allotted based on merit list, he said.
An official privy to the details said PTI, “Under the new system, one centralized portal will be designed for admission to all undergraduate programs of all colleges in the university and admission will be done as per the rules and guidelines in the common seat allocation system.” The official further informed that the students will have to pay a one-time non-refundable fee for CSAS-2022 application fee. Candidates applying under the Extra Curricular Activity (ECA) and/or Sports Redundancy Quota will be required to pay an additional fee.
The second phase of the admission process will start after the declaration of the CUET(UG) 2022 results. The candidate will have to select the programs in which he wants to get admission. For all the selected programs, they will have to confirm the CUET Merit Score (UG) for the individual program, the report said.
Further, the report said that in the third phase, the seats will be allotted on the basis of merit list. If two or more candidates have same CUET score, preference will be given to the candidate with higher percentage of aggregate marks (for best three subjects of 12th class). If the score is still tied, the older candidate will have the upper hand. The entire process will take place through the CSAS centralized portal. For admission under the sports quota, 50 per cent weightage will be given to the CUET score and the rest to the performance-based test, the report said. The person who wants to cancel the ticket will be charged ₹1,000, officials said.
