A 25-year-old youth died on the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway late on Friday evening while his elder brother, an Army Major posted in Ambala Cantt, sustained multiple injuries when their XUV rammed on the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway. The truck hit. After the incident, the truck driver left the vehicle and fled from the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Ankash Tomar while his elder brother is 35-year-old Ankit Tomar. According to police, Major Ankit Tomar was coming to Derabasi with his younger brother in a new Mahindra XUV.

While Ankit was behind the wheels, Ankush was in the front passenger seat.

“When they reached Derabasi and took a U-turn from Bhushan Factory Chowk, a truck coming from Derabasi rammed the left side of the vehicle, leaving it badly burnt. Passers-by struggled to get the victims out of the car. pulled out and rushed them to the local civil hospital,” said a police official.

Ankash sustained severe head injuries and was declared brought dead at the hospital while his elder brother is still undergoing treatment.

The deceased was an engineer in Delhi and lived there with his mother. A few days ago, he had come from Delhi with his mother to meet his elder brother in Ambala,” the police official further revealed.

A case of speeding and causing death by negligence has been registered against the truck driver.

The body of the 25-year-old youth was handed over to the relatives after the post-mortem at the civil hospital.
