Hamilton College Announces New Dean of Admissions | Tech US News


CLINTON – John T. McLaughlin will join Hamilton College as dean of admissions and associate vice president effective Jan. 3.

McLaughlin will join Hamilton from the University of Pennsylvania, where he serves as associate dean and director of admissions.

Reporting directly to Vice President of Enrollment Management Monica Inzer, McLaughlin will be responsible for overseeing Hamilton’s admissions strategy, managing all aspects of recruitment and selection, and maintaining and enhancing the college’s recent successes in breaking down barriers and attracting record numbers of talented and diverse students with all over the world.

“John brings a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, as well as an exceptional blend of experience in highly selective admissions, strategic thinking, data-driven analysis and planning, and day-to-day management and staff development,” said Inzer. “I am confident that his skills will only complement and strengthen an already strong receiving team and I look forward to the positive impact he will have at Hamilton,” added Inzer.

At the University of Pennsylvania, McLaughlin previously served as interim dean of admissions, in addition to his responsibilities as associate dean, director of admissions. Prior to joining Penn, he served as a Senior Research Fellow at the Consortium for the Financing of Higher Education (COFHE). McLaughlin holds a PhD in Higher Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, an MA in Higher Education from the University of Oxford, and a BA from Penn.
