India has handed over 80 vehicles to Nepal before the upcoming general elections. The Center presented Mahindra Scorpio pickup trucks to the Election Commission of the country on Thursday. In a ceremony, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava handed over these vehicles to Nepal’s Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapalya. India has so far supplied more than 200 vehicles to the pool body in the neighboring country.

India has supported Nepal by offering vehicles on request. So far 214 vehicles have been gifted to Nepal’s apex polling agency. “We are in the process of holding elections for the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies on November 20, 2022. From today we have only 17 days left for the election day. It is necessary to hold elections from time to time to maintain the democratic system. Govt. of India are helping us in our big elections by providing vehicles, election materials and other necessary support,” Thapalya said at the event.

Srivastava said, “India has always been a good friend of Nepal, our relations have always been cordial. Being a neighboring and democratic country, India has always accepted the requests of the Election Commission of Nepal, based on which we have 80 The vehicles are being handed over.” . The handed over vehicles will be used in the upcoming general elections from November 20.

Of the 200-odd vehicles handed over by India, 80 will be used by the polling body for election-related work, while 120 will be used by other security forces. Nepal, being a mountainous region, will benefit from Mahindra’s all-terrain model Scorpio.

This is not the first time that India has gifted vehicles to Nepal. Over the years, Nepal has received more than 2,400 vehicles to various authorities, including the Nepal Police and Armed Police Forces, as well as the Nepalese Army.

Nepal will go to the polls on November 20 to elect 165 members of the House of Representatives or the lower house of parliament.
