DENVER, Nov. 01, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Reference website Listophile conducted a study on the latest baby naming trends inspired by travel destinations. Over 3 million instances of baby names were analyzed to reveal the most popular places around the world that inspired our baby names.

In today’s never-ending search for new and creative baby names, the study suggests that a significant number of parents are turning to geographic locations for inspiration.

The study’s results include a mix of far-flung destination names like Cairo, Milan and Sydney, as well as closer-to-home favorites like Phoenix, Catalina and Dallas.

The study also identified the most popular travel-inspired baby names, meaning the names that grow the fastest in popularity year over year. For girls, these were Marlow, Montana, Memphis, Denver and Holland; while Zeeland, Rhodes, Cypress, Rome and Rio increased the most popularity among boys.

The study also notes that travel destination baby names have become popular among celebrities. Famous parents who have named their children after places meaningful to them include Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, David and Victoria Beckham, Drea de Matteo and Shooter Jennings, and celebrity couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

The study begins by listing the top 10 travel-inspired baby names, before digging into the top 40 baby names to reveal the most unique geographic names parents are giving their children.
