Ajay Pal Sharma, a noted Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, was admitted to a private hospital in Lucknow on Thursday after suffering a heart attack.

According to Medanta Hospital, encounter specialist Sharma’s condition is stable. Sharma’s health started to deteriorate when he was in his office on Thursday.

The person responsible for the media at Medanta Hospital, dr. Alok Kapoor said, “IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma suffered a minor heart attack. That’s why he was accepted there. He had to have an angioplasty.”

Kapoor said that the angioplasty was performed under the supervision of Dr. PK Goyal.

Sharma is currently posted as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Uttar Pradesh.

A native of Punjab’s Ludhiana, Sharma is a 2011 batch IPS officer. His first posting was in Saharanpur.

The IPS officer is considered among the bright and capable police officers of Uttar Pradesh.

Sharma has conducted more than 100 meetings.

He was given a post in Noida during the first term of the Yogi Adityanath government.

Sharma arrested Nazil, accused of raping and murdering a six-year-old girl in Rampur in June 2019, in the encounter.

Led by IPS Sharma, the police killed a criminal, Naushad alias Danny, who received a bounty of Rs 60,000 on his head.

After this IPS, Ajay Pal Sharma was removed from Noida and became the SP of Rampur.

Sharma’s name appeared in the report of suspended IPS Vaibhav Krishna during his tenure as Rampur SP after which he was removed from Rampur. Since then, Ajay Pal Sharma has not been given the command of any district.
