With the tagline of “Big Daddy Of SUVs”, the all-new Mahindra Scorpio-N has garnered a lot of attention in the Indian market. Mahindra started deliveries of the all-new Scorpio-N a few weeks ago and it’s starting to make an increasingly common appearance on the roads. Well, Mahindra Scorpio-N owners are definitely testing it and taking it to some extreme places. This Mahindra Scorpio-N owner took it to a pond and got stuck royally.

This video was made by a Mahindra Thar owner, who received a call for help from a Scorpio N owner. The Mahindra Scorpio-N can be seen stranded on the edge of the pond. The small pool has vertical walls and a nearly 90 degree drop. We are not sure what the owner of the Mahindra Scorpio N was trying to do and how the car ended up in this situation.

Anyone with even the slightest driving experience will know that any car will get stuck in this situation. The Mahindra Thar had an electric winch, which was used to recover the Scorpio-N.
After fixing the winch on the rear tow hook of the Mahindra Scorpio-N, the owner started slowly pulling it back. Since the vehicle was resting on the pavement, it was difficult to recover. However, as the vehicle was stuck, it was also scratched. During the recovery, the front bumper of the vehicle was damaged and the registration plate also came off.
It was a 4X2 Scorpio-N but if it was a 4X4 it wouldn’t matter. Any civilian vehicle in stock condition would have been stuck in a similar situation.
No winch dampers were used.
The video shows people casually standing around the Scorpio-N and near the pull rope. However, there is no moisture on the rope. If the rope breaks during a pull or swing, it can whip and cause serious injury to anyone in the vicinity. This is why experts and professionals use damping when salvaging or towing a vehicle.
If you don’t have dampening material available, anything with a weight like a wet bag, winter jacket or even boots hanging from strings can be good options. These dampening materials can absorb most of the whiplash impact and make the rope less damaging.
It is extremely important not to go to such off-roading areas without equipment or a recovery vehicle. Getting stuck in such places is common and it can take a long time for help to reach such desolate places. Having a recovery vehicle helps in many ways. During situations where one car is badly stuck and the other cannot help with the recovery, it can always go to the nearest town for help.
Off-roading can be fun with the right tools, knowledge and experience. If someone gets stuck without the right knowledge or tools to save a vehicle, things can get pretty bad.
