Mahindra Thar 5 Door to Get Different Styling: Spy Photos | Tech US News

[ad_1]

Mahindra as we all know has been launching one successful product after another for the past two years. This year it was the all-new Scorpio N, one of the most anticipated models from the manufacturer. Mahindra also announced that they will be launching a 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar next year. The fully-disguised 5-door Mahindra Thar SUV has been spotted testing on our roads several times. New images have now surfaced online that show some styling changes that differentiate the 3-door Thar from the more practical 5-door version.

Mahindra Thar 5 Door Spotted Testing: To get different styling elements

Recently leaked images show the side profile of the Mahindra Thar 5-door SUV which is currently being tested. It looks a little different from what we’ve seen in the past. The candid photos of the test mule show that the SUV is definitely longer and not just an extended version of the 3-door version. The spotted version of the Mahindra Thar 5-door SUV gets a longer wheelbase. The wheel arches on this SUV are different from what we see on the 3-door version. The wheel arches look square and the alloy wheel design on the test mule also looks different.

A foreboard can be seen on the test mule and part of the rear wheel arch is actually integrated with the second row door similar to what we saw in the Scorpio N. Mahindra is unlikely to offer multiple roof options with the 5-door Thar. It is more likely to come with a metal roof option with some removable panels for an open Jeep experience. It can be either a metal or plastic hardtop like we saw in the 3-door version. The resemblance to the previous generation Jeep Wrangler is something that cannot be ignored in this SUV. The front end of the SUV is expected to get some changes that will differentiate it from the 3-door SUV. Similarly, the rear will also get minor updates.

Mahindra Thar 5 Door Spotted Testing: To get different styling elements

On the inside, the Mahindra Thar 5-door will offer more features than the 3-door SUV. Mahindra may offer a large touchscreen infotainment system, premium speaker system, automatic climate control, rear AC vent, airbags, ABS, EBD, rear parking camera and sensors etc. The Mahindra is also expected to offer features like four disc brakes, low-range transfer case, mechanical locking diff at the rear and electrically locking diff at the front. Coming on engine and gearbox options. Mahindra will use the same petrol and diesel engines as the 3-door model.

The 2.0 liter mStallion turbo petrol and 2.2 liter mHawk turbo diesel engines will be tuned differently for the 5-door version. Both engine options will be offered with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. We expect both the petrol and diesel options to come with 4×4 with standard features such as a three-door hatch. When the Mahindra Thar 5-door is launched, it will compete against the likes of the Force Gorkha 5-door and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door. The 5-door Thar will be slightly more expensive than the 3-door version.
