Mahindra XUV300 TurboSport in first drive review video | Tech US News

Mahindra has recently launched the Turbosport version of its sub-4 meter SUV XUV300. It was first presented to the public at the 2020 Auto Expo. The TurboSport series is powered by a 1.2 liter mStallion series turbocharged petrol engine which is more powerful than the regular XUV300. The car has started reaching dealerships across India and deliveries have also started. It is one of the fastest ICE SUV in the sub-Rs 15 lakh segment. Here we have a quick review video of Mahindra XUV300 TurboSport SUV.

This video has been uploaded by The Car Guide – Rishabh Arora on his YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger takes the SUV for a spin and talks about all the changes he noticed in the SUV compared to the regular petrol model. The XUV300 TurboSport variant produces 130 Ps and 230 Nm of peak torque. Mahindra is offering the XUV300 TurboSport model in W6, W8 and W8 (O) variants. The price of the Turbosport variant starts at Rs 10.35 lakh, ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 12.90 lakh, ex-showroom. In terms of design, Mahindra hasn’t made too many changes. The SUV has red highlights on the grille and bumper that distinguish it from the regular version.

Apart from this, the new Mahindra logo can also be seen on the XUV300. The overall design of the SUV remains the same as before. The vlogger started driving the SUV and said that he has been driving the regular turbo-petrol version of the XUV300 for the past two years and he can definitely feel a lot of improvement in the car. He begins by mentioning that the Turbo Sport series is too powerful and punchy to drive. The torque in this SUV is available from very low RPMs and even while driving in 6th gear, the engine has a power reserve that comes in handy when overtaking on highways.

NVH levels are greatly improved and overall vibration on the steering wheel and gear lever is also reduced. The Vlogger mentions that the SUV is definitely fun to drive and the overall weight and safety rating of the SUV also gives confidence to the owners. It handles very well at high speeds and the suspension is on the stiff side. This is done deliberately to improve handling. Even in the regular XUV300, the suspensions were stiff. The vlogger also talks about the XUV300 TurboSport’s cabin. To achieve a sporty look, Mahindra has completely blacked out the interior.

In the regular version, it gets a beige interior which gives it a premium look but is quite difficult to maintain. Mahindra, however, has not made any design changes or updated any other features. The Vlogger felt that Mahindra could have offered something different in the cabin that would have made it different. He also felt that Mahindra could have offered a proper automatic transmission instead of the AMT. The TurboSport variant is only available with a manual gearbox. The regular version is still offered in the market with a diesel engine option.
