Mahindra recently unveiled its first all-electric SUV, the XUV400 EV. Based on the XUV300 compact SUV and inspired by the eXUV300 concept, this all-electric vehicle comes as the latest entry in the Indian electric car market, where the number of models is steadily increasing. The SUV is slated to launch in January 2023, and once launched, it will compete with rivals like the Tata Nexon EV, MG ZS EV, and Hyundai Kona EV.

Ahead of the SUV launch in India, here are five important facts about the Mahindra XUV400 EV.

The second electric SUV made in India

The Mahindra XUV400 comes as the second India-made electric SUV, just ahead of the Tata Nexon EV, which is the current best-selling electric car in the Indian market.

The longest range electric car made in India

The Mahindra XUV400 comes as the most range-topping electric SUV made in India. The Mahindra electric SUV promises a range of 456 km on a single charge. This puts the Mahindra XUV400 above the Tata Nexon EV, which is capable of driving a range of 437 km on a single charge.

Fastest electric SUV made in India

Mahindra claims that the XUV400 EV comes to India as the fastest electric SUV to be made in the country. The Mahindra XUV400 EV is capable of sprinting from 0-100 kmph in 8.3 seconds. This makes the Mahindra XUV400 Ev faster than the Tata Nexon EV, which reaches the same mark from a standstill in around nine seconds.

Powerful battery

The Mahindra XUV400 EV is powered by a 39.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Mahindra claims that it can be topped up in less than an hour using fast charging technology.

C-segment SUV with competitive pricing

The Mahindra XUV400 EV is being offered by the domestic auto major as a C-segment SUV with competitive pricing. In terms of positioning, it aims to take on rivals like the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona EV. Conversely, in terms of pricing, it will be aggressively and competitively positioned against the Tata Nexon EV. In this case, it could end up as the most affordable electric SUV in India.
