Telangana: Mancheriala Medical Colleges Grant Admissions

The college was allotted 100 seats against an enrollment of 150 seats due to delay in obtaining clearances with the first phase of counselling.

Mancherial: The newly sanctioned government medical college has been given permission to admit first year MBBS course this academic year, according to an order issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) on Wednesday.

The director of the faculty Dr. Dawood Suleman said that the NMC has given its consent to conduct online admissions and start classes this academic year and the college has been included in the list of institutions for the second phase of NEET counselling. He revealed that the college was allotted 100 seats against an enrollment of 150 seats due to delay in obtaining clearance through the first phase of counselling. However, the NMC’s nod cheered the students who wanted to pursue the course. Students hailing from the district can opt for the institution without having to move to neighboring Karimnagar and Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Mancherial representative Nadipella Diwakar Rao thanked Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for pushing hard for the college commission’s permission. He stated that Rao’s special focus was on establishing medical colleges in the newly formed state and making medical education accessible to students from all parts of Telangana.

The college, one of the eight facilities sanctioned in 2021 in different parts of Telangana, will function in temporary buildings constructed in the existing farm market yard at Ramnagar, the district headquarters. The estimated value of the works was 14 million euros. It accommodates 150 seats annually and is equipped with a 330-bed state general hospital.

According to the college authorities, the institution has 48 teachers, including professors, as against 54 authorized teachers for teaching anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. Recently, he got 42 elderly residents who will perform tasks in the institution. As many as 148 employees, including sanitation workers, were hired by the agency for the college on an outsourcing basis.
