Matt Hancock admitted on ITV’s ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ that there was “no excuse” for the actions that led to his resignation as health secretary. The West Suffolk MP resigned in June 2021 after he was photographed drinking with a colleague and breached his own strict social distancing rules.

Mr Hancock was caught on CCTV with assistant Gina Coladangelo in his office.

It was also revealed that he had an affair with Ms. Coladangelo and became estranged from his wife as a result.

The former minister for digital, culture, media and sport admitted, despite his regrets, that he had “fallen in love” with Ms Coladangelo.

Speaking to campmate and comedian Babatunde Aleshye, he explained how his life changed after the affair became public.

This involved being trapped in an octopus-shaped cage full of underwater animals.

He successfully collected 11 numbered stars when the structure was lowered into the water, winning full rations for the camp.

On Friday, viewers voted for Mr Hancock and 80s music legend Boy George to take on the first eating challenge of the series.

According to the show’s hosts, Declan Donnelly and Ant McPartlin, the duo were said to be eating at the cafe La Cucaracha (CafĂ© The Cockroaches).
