Moyes welcomes Nayef Aguerdo ahead of FCSB’s match against West Ham United | Tech US News

David Moyes has hinted that West Ham summer signing Nayef Aguerd could feature against FCSB on Thursday (November 3rd) in the Europa Conference League.

The Hammers have already qualified for the next round and this match is dead for them.

However, it is also a fantastic opportunity for the club to give more exposure to young talent and players returning from injury. Aguerd could get some minutes.

“We hope that Nayef can play again for as long as possible and we hope to try to get him back [to full fitness],” Moyes said,” Moyes said before the game, as quoted by Football London.

“Those games have been really good for him. We put him in the team at the start and even though he was injured we thought he had a chance to come back in the last couple of games and that’s how it turned out.

“It might just be a bit of a quick start in the Premier League for him [before the World Cup] but let’s see how he goes tomorrow and hopefully he can get some games under his belt.”

Smart choice

Aguerd joined in the summer transfer window for around £30m from Rennes.

The highly-rated defender injured his ankle in pre-season and there were fears he could miss the World Cup.

However, Aguerd returned to full fitness and made his debut last week in a 1-0 win over Silkeborg.

David Moyes is likely to give him more game time as he gradually builds on his fitness. Currently, the defender is not physically ready to play in the Premier League.

Moyes is unlikely to rush him into the league. However, these games are important for his match readiness. The centre-back is expected to travel with Morocco to the World Cup in Qatar later this month.

Moyes is likely to rest most of his senior players for this game as he wants them to be fully fit and fresh for the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at the weekend.
