Munich-based private equity firm Mutares SE & Co KGaA has submitted an irrevocable binding offer to acquire 50 per cent equity in Peugeot Motorcycles (PMTC) from Mahindra & Mahindra. But that would give the German company an 80 percent controlling stake in Peugeot. Mahindra will hold the remaining 50 percent equity with 20 percent stake.

“M&M will remain a co-shareholder to support new product launches and strong growth expected in the coming years. M&M said in a press statement that the transaction will close in the first quarter of 2023 after consultation with works councils.” is expected and is subject to the approval of the antitrust authorities.

Mahindra Two Wheeler Europe, a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, acquired 100 percent stake in Peugeot Motorcycles in 2019. Earlier in January 2015, Mahindra acquired 51 percent equity stake in PMTC.

Peugeot Motorcycles is headquartered in Mandeur, France with revenues of approximately 140 million euros. Peugeot Motocycles manufactures two- and three-wheeled scooters distributed in France and internationally through subsidiaries, importers and dealers through 3,000 points of sale on three continents.
