Nick Kyrgios’ partner, Thanasi Kokkinakis, took part in training with the Australian star | Tennis | Sports | Tech US News

Nick Kyrgios’ partner Thanasi Kokkinakis has spoken about what it’s like to train with the Australian star as the pair prepare for next week’s ATP Finals in Turin. Kyrgios and Kokkinakis will be in action on Monday when they face top seeds Neal Skupski and Wesley Koolhof in the group stage.

The Australian duo understandably go about their training routines on the practice court and Kokkinakis has admitted that he prepares for his doubles matches in an unusual way, claiming that they don’t do doubles drills at all.

“We certainly don’t train doubles at all. We don’t do any doubles drills or anything like that,” Kokkinakis told the ATP website. “Maybe that can be an advantage, maybe a disadvantage sometimes because we just do our own thing.”

Instead, the 26-year-old from Adelaide argued it was more important to train as a singles player so they don’t stray from their natural game. He continued: “If we try to be doubles players instead of playing our own [natural] game, it’s not going to work out too well for us.
