Oppo has launched the A97 in China, after the device was leaked last week by various sources. As expected, the A97 comes in two colors, machine-defined to ‘It’s dark at night’ and ‘Deep blue’. In addition, the handset has a 6.6-inch IPS display running at 1080p and 90 Hz, above which Oppo has included a 12 MP front camera.
In that vein, the A97 has a 48 MP primary rear camera, along with a 2 MP depth sensor and an LED flash. Despite the simple cameras, Oppo has chosen to include housing that expands the area. Separately, Oppo has equipped the A97 with a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 33 W fast charging via USB Type-C. As with many cheaper phones, the Oppo A97 features a 3.5 mm headphone jack as well, as well as a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Elsewhere, Oppo A97 relies on MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC, 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Predictably, Oppo pre-installs ColorOS 12 as in 12. Currently only available in China, the Oppo A97 retails for CNY 2,099 (~US$312); there is no sign of any other memory. While Oppo will start shipping the A97 in China on July 15, it has not confirmed whether it will release the smartphone globally yet.
