All Rangers fans are feeling good about themselves after that 8-2 massacre of the Detroit Red Wings. There is a lot to like about how the team will respond. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen consecutive good performances from this Rangers roster. They’ve had some tough opponents, but there can be no excuses tonight as the Rangers play a struggling Nashville team.

Nashville has the same feeling about them that was painted on the Rangers last season. They have flaws like a roster that hides their superstar goalie. Impeccable logic, but Juusse Saros was not the spectacular finish that he was last year. His .892 save percentage and 3.45 goals-against average is a major red flag for the struggles of this Nashville roster. They are looking to get back in the win column like the Rangers were a few days ago.

New York’s superstar goalie has also had a lackluster start by his reigning Vezina winner standards. I get that his .909 save percentage would be desired by many other teams, but that has increased recently and he too will be looking to get back to his prime. As of this writing, it’s unclear whether the Rangers will go with Igor or Halak, but either way, the goaltending matchup should be interesting.

Vitali Kravtsov will not be in the lineup tonight due to illness. His replacement is slated to be Ryan Carpenter. It’s very possible that Ryan Reaves will be the one to step into the lineup to fill the Russian winger’s shoes, but nothing is a foregone conclusion. All Gallant said is that Kravtsov has a stomach bug and won’t show up tonight in Nashville. It won’t be long, hopefully.
