Oppo’s Find X series starts with one of the newest models on the market. The Original Finder X (2018) wowed us all with its hidden sliding camera system that allows creating a beautiful screen. That’s something of a departure, however, and the Find X title doesn’t represent an experimental, futuristic approach. Instead, the series has grown and now has serious competition for flagship Android phones from the likes of Samsung and Google.

The Find X5 Pro does not look all that different to the Find X3 Pro that came before (no Find X4, because this number is often passed in China for bad quality), but it has made some improvements improved significantly over his predecessors. . As we preview the Oppo Find X6 series, can we expect another release, or are we in for some more exciting changes? This is all we know so far.

Will there be an Oppo Find X6 series?

While there is still no official word from Oppo on the Find X6 series, leaks have started to appear so we can be sure that it is on the cards. Although Oppo avoided the Find X4 name, there is no reason to think that it will not go with the Find X6 name for the next series. You never know – Oppo can surprise us and go with a whole new business. But as things stand, our money comes from the Search X6 series. It’s likely to include the regular Find X6, a cheaper Lite option, and the top-of-the-line Find X6 Pro to complement the Find X5 Pro. There could be a Neo model, too, but that’s not happening in 2021 so we’re not sure about that.

When will Oppo Find X6 release date?

We don’t have a confirmed release date for the Find X6 series of devices, but we can make an educated guess by looking at previous years. The Find X3 series was announced in March 2021. Then the Find X5 series was revealed in February 2022 before being available the following month. This means we can pencil in March 2023 for the launch of the Find X6 series with a reasonable degree of certainty.

Regardless of when it launches, don’t expect it to be released in North America. Despite the growing market in Europe, Oppo’s flagships have not yet hit the US market.

What features and specs will Oppo Find X6 series have?

Information about the X6 series was pretty thin on the ground until November 2022 when we got the first good leak about the specifications for the upcoming Pro model. We can also expect a significant departure from previous entries in the series when it comes to aesthetics, according to the leak.

Specs and features

Yogesh Brar Oppo Find X6 Pro

The first information leaked came from expert Yogesh Brar who shared it the first list of Twitter. Much of it is not surprising, as it includes Qualcomm’s next flagship processor – all but confirmed as Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 – and the same 50W wireless charging as the Find X5 Pro. The biggest surprise is the apparent use of the Sony one-inch IMX989 sensor for the phone’s main camera. This is the same sensor found in Xiaomi’s 12S Ultra and it promises to improve the lighting and even better portrait shots. The 50MP ultrawide sounds familiar, but the purported 50MP zoom lens will be a major upgrade. Since the X5 Pro left off its 13MP, 2x optical telephoto shooter, it’s safe to say that Oppo will likely use a new device. The leak also points to a 32MP selfie camera – presumably the same as before – and Hasselblad tuning once again.

The Find X5 Pro was let down by its weak telephoto camera, so it is confirmed that Oppo will likely opt for a more powerful zoom device this time.

The rest of the X6 Pro, it’s a familiar story – 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display, 5000mAh battery with 100W wired charging, and next-gen Marisilicon X2 image signal processor. Configurations touted include 8GB or 12GB of RAM with 128GB/256GB/512GB storage options. It will ship with Android 13-based Color OS 13, which Oppo introduced its new “aquamorphic” model (more blue and white, essentially).

There is very little to go on when it comes to the design vision of the Oppo Find X6 series, but Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station has shared a photo on Weibo that shows a rejigged camera on the back. If so, this means that the same design language that we have seen for the previous two announcements will give way to a round camera reminiscent of Xiaomi and Honor devices recently (not to mention all the owners of other phones that have used this design. in recent years).

Oppo find x6 pro leak

This is something of a shame, as Oppo made special promises for its last two Find X Pro. The curved ceramic rear integrated into the camera module is a sight to behold, and sets the phone apart from the crowd. While it is disappointing that the Find X6 Pro seems to be moving away from the special visuals, we can still expect to get quality products and build quality, just like high-end products finally Oppo. The first CAD renders for the Find X5 Pro appeared in December 2021, so we can expect more glimpses of the X6 Pro’s design in the coming months.

What will be the price of Oppo Find X6 series?

There is no news on the price – official or otherwise – for the upcoming Find X6 series yet, but we can look at last year’s models to give us an idea of what to expect. The basic retail price for everyone is as follows:

  • Oppo Find X5 Pro – £1,049 / €1,299 (~$1,239)
  • Oppo Find X5 — £749 / €999 (~$884)
  • Oppo Find X5 Lite – £419 / €499 (~$495)

Oppo’s price for the Find X5 series is not super competitive, so we would like to see it come forward a little. In reality, similar costs are more likely. Hopefully, we won’t see the kind of price increases Apple is asking for its newest iPhones, especially since we haven’t seen anything from Android phone manufacturers this year. You never know, though – if the price goes up for Oppo, we’ll see that spread to consumers.

Oppo Find X6 series: What we want to see

Oppo Find X6 Pro scored high in our review, but there is still room for improvement if Oppo’s flagship really wants to go toe to toe with Samsung’s Galaxy S range and Google’s Pixels. Here are the main things we want to see when the new phone lands.

The camera is more competitive

On the Find X5 Pro, the three rear cameras, the main and the wide angle are both pretty good, although the main camera tends to have too much color at times. By contrast, the zoom lens is a big disappointment, so we hope that this is where Oppo focuses its camera improvements on the Find X6 Pro. The periscope lens with more than 2x optical zoom on its predecessor is necessary if Oppo wants to close the gap with its competitors. Leaked images suggest that might be on the card, so fingers crossed for that.

The display is flat

This is always divisive, but many reviewers and users find the curved shape of the Find X5 Pro annoying. I have never been a fan of the curved edges because of the distorted colors and details, although I will admit that they are pleasant to the touch. It is possible that we will get the same display for the Find X6 Pro, because that is what the information suggests, so don’t expect the wish to be true.

Improved software experience with less bloatware

OPPO ColorOS 13

OPPO ColorOS 13

The problem of bloated software with too many options and apps is something we have long struggled with when it comes to Chinese phones, and Oppo devices are no exception. Find X6 series will be released with Color OS 13, with its new aquamorphic design language. It’s sure to look beautiful and perform well, but if Oppo can remove some of the quirks and simplify the software experience, that will go a long way to making the Find X6 series a success. finished.

If Oppo can do some gut wrenching and simplify the software experience, it will go a long way to making the Find X6 series a success.

The company has done a good job with its Android skin in recent years, but slimming it down will make European users happy.

The price is lower

It’s hard to justify spending more than £1,000 on a smartphone, especially when you can get the Google Pixel 7 Pro for £849 (and potentially even less during the Find X6 Pro out). If Oppo wants to be competitive, it would do well to lower its prices. That is difficult to do without some kind of business, but the sister brands OnePlus and Vivo can reduce the price of their flagships recently, so hopefully this is the company general practice that Oppo’s Find X6 series will continue to.

A US release

As with most Chinese phones, we don’t expect Oppo to release the Find X6 series in the US, however we would like to see it happen. This will be another for European and Asian markets, in general. But hey, we can hope!
