After months of talks to buy Twitter, Elon Musk has closed his $44 billion acquisition deal. Netizens on social media have reacted to the news and industrialist Anand Mahindra has also reacted to it.

Industrialist Anand Mahindra responded to a post by Elon Musk, saying he hoped Twitter would be “always higher” under his leadership and not “spin out of control.”

“Bird has really been set free @elonmusk and we certainly want it to go higher… but we’re hoping it’s a guided flight to a new orbit… not a controlled one. Be out. 🙏🏽 Wish you all the best…” he tweeted.

The post has already received over 2,000 likes and over 40 replies.

Musk reportedly fired top executives after taking charge of Twitter, including Indian-origin CEO Parag Agarwal and legal head Vijay Gude. He also fired Chief Financial Officer Ned Siegel.

Elon Musk plans to take over the role of Chief Executive Officer at Twitter Inc. The billionaire is expected to remain CEO in the interim, but the person added that he may eventually step down from the role in the long term. Twitter representatives declined to comment.

The person said he also plans to do away with permanent bans on users because he doesn’t believe in lifetime bans.

Elon Musk acquired Twitter about six months ago. It made an initial bid of 54.20 per share. However, a few months ago Musk was seen backing away from the deal as he said the bot had more than 5 percent of users on the social media platform.

The deadline to close the deal was set by a Delaware court on October 28. The deadline was set so Musk could finance the deal.
