Compare OPPO and iPhone on paper and OPPO outdoes the iPhone in sheer MP. This is especially true when you compare Android phones to iPhones which always rely on software more than hardware. The iPhone has OPPO beat in other categories with more megapixels in Ultrawide and Macro cameras.

We were so impressed by the main camera of the OPPO Reno8 Pro that it inspired the idea for this article, but we were not impressed by the rest of the camera suite. We’ll be comparing images from the main camera and the ultrawide camera for the purpose of this article, however, we’ll reiterate that the main camera is the only thing that can be saved with iPhone.

In the case of OPPO, it takes advantage of Sony’s IMX766 sensor, the same you will see on the device below thanks to Kimovil. This is one of the best sensors to capture the light without sacrificing the ‘night mode’, something you will see on the flagship iPhone 14 Pro Max.

OPPO’s MariSilicon X NPU Works Hard

OPPO presented the MariSilicon X imaging 6nm NPU in December 2021 and this is the first time we tested the latest chip with a focus on new imaging. The unit alone provides the ability of Reno8 Pro 5G videography unlike any other in the middle class, and while we will not test the video capabilities in this article, expect 4K Ultra Night Video for sure , bright, and detailed videos at night. , with 4K Ultra HDR.

To get real results for a moment, the ISP part of MariSilicon X allows for 20-bit image capture with an expanded 120db dynamic range (four times that of the X3 Pro). Remember when we said this is a great feature in a mid-range phone? It is this hardware that adds together to create a true ‘flagship’ experience for end users.

The OPPO Reno8 Pro is overtaken by the iPhone 14 Pro in the software category but still boasts a handful of photo software features, including Bokeh Flare Portrait to blur the background for selfies, Selfie HDR, AI Palettes, AI Colors Portrait, and Portrait Retouching. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have the dedication at night, however, the large sensor makes a lot of low performance.

OPPO Reno8 Pro Photos vs iPhone 14 Pro Max

Now it’s time for the main event, we’ve included some side-by-side photos of the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the Oppo Reno8 Pro 5G below. You will notice the sharpness of the images drops significantly when using the Ultrawide on the Oppo, however, the 50MP main camera does a good job of keeping up with the iPhone.

When you consider the $600 price difference between the two phones we were very impressed by the OPPO, especially its ability to capture brilliant images around the sunset when the iPhone struggled choose the correct length in the lower part.
