On Saturday, December 3, 2022, the Museum of the Cherokee Indian in Cherokee, North Carolina will join tribal museums and cultural centers across Indian Country for the first Tribal Museum Day organized by the Association for American Indian Affairs. Visitors are invited to enjoy free admission to the museum during its regular hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and support local artists this holiday season at the museum store.

From the Association of American Indian Affairs: “The Association’s vision is to create a world in which diverse indigenous cultures and values ​​are lived, protected and respected. Tribal Museum Day will draw attention to our diverse nations and cultures, promote tourism and the growth of tribal economies. Tribal Museum Day will also support the vision and mission of each tribal museum by re-educating the public that our nations are the foremost experts on Aboriginal history, knowledge, cultures, ways of life and values.”
