BOSTON – The TSA says it’s staffed and ready to go to Logan Airport before the Thanksgiving holiday.

The agency expects to see the largest crowds on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, and the Sunday after Thanksgiving is usually the busiest day.

“Between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m., nearly every airport in the country tends to be the busiest time, so people should prepare for that,” said New England TSA spokesman Dan Valez. “If you’re flexible, I’d advise traveling a little later, like closer to noon.”

The TSA recommends that travelers arrive at the airport two hours before their flight, have their ID ready, and ensure that firearms are properly packed.

“We had a record number of firearms detected in Boston. We’ve had 26 so far this year, breaking the mark of 20 set in 2018,” Valez said. “Especially during the holidays … we want to make sure they are aware of the firearms regulations.”

Massport expects 1.2 million people to pass through Logan between Thursday and the day after Thanksgiving.
