Social media has become a platform for people to flaunt their illegal activities while ignoring the law enforcement agencies. Especially, drivers who perform dangerous and sometimes deadly stunts. However, the police department is now catching these trends and is now taking action against such miscreants. In a recent incident, the UP Police has taken strict action against a woman who performed stunts on her Mahindra Scorpio SUV. The video of the dangerous act was uploaded on social media after which the police department took action.

A video uploaded on Twitter shows a girl sitting on the bonnet of a moving Mahindra Scorpio. At that time the vehicle was moving slowly on a public road. After the video went viral online, the police arrested the woman, and the Mahindra Scorpio was also seized based on Kartok’s report. The incident reportedly took place in Sector 24 of Noida. However, the exact date and time of the incident is yet to be ascertained. Moreover, the charges against the accused have not been revealed.

It is illegal to perform stunts on public roads in India. The incident comes at a time when the government is working to enhance road safety and ensure enforcement of road safety measures. Additionally, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has recently said that reckless driving and lack of fear of the law are some of the major factors that have led to the rise in accidents in India.

The minister further said that the government’s target is to reduce accidents by 50%. Union minister Nitin Gadkari said in a statement, “People should follow the rules; one of the main problems is that some people have no fear of the law. Our aim is to reduce accidents by 50 per cent.” The minister also said that most of the accidents happen to people in the age group of 18-34 years.
